AIM bittorrent networking problems

Sry if this isn't in the right forum....anyway

I had a modem from sbc that would let me direct connect to anyone on aim, but then I got 2 wire and a adapter so I can have a computer in a different room and it wont direct connect with anyone, as for bittorrent It wont let me DL fast it always stays yellow, and never connects.

I have tried port forwarding, I have tried letting all programs through, and I have tried disableing all of my firewall options.....nothing works....
