Hi everybody.

At the top of this forum there is a pinned thread about xp repair. My question is whether this feature is available in all xp versions or in xp professional only. Today I tried to repair a xp home edition but it wouldn't allow me. it took me to reformatting and clean installation, whatever I tried. I had no problem with xp professional.

Thanks.

Hi y.a...Welcome to G2G!

Read the instructions again very carefully...print them out if you have to. I have used this procedure on XP Home many times and it works like a charm.

One note, though...I have never tried is with OEM recovery disks so don't know if it works with them as well...anybody????

Also try booting to the desktop then loading the XP Home CD then clicking install, then look for the repair option

Thanks for your replies. As I said, I have no problem whatsoever with xp professioal and I did it successfully a number of times. The copy I used this time is an OEM home edition. I tried it a number of times, very carefully, but had to stop to avoid reformatting. It just didn't take me through the repair option, that's what made we wonder whether some versions do not have the repair option.
