Seems i caught the bug going around. I have run Ad-aware and Spybot. The programs keep coming back. On one reboot it is one of the three, and then on the another reboot it is another and so on. I have done some research, but I am still unsure about how to get rid of this. Please help.

Welcome to GTG.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvu.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

Uninstall Viewpoint via the Add/Remove panel now.

Delete these if found:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvu.dll

* After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
* Pressing any key will cause a 'Blue Screen of Death' this is normal, do not worry!
* Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp! http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft...com/activescan/

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Alright, i followed the steps, except after typing in C:\windows\system32\awvvu.dll, and pressing Enter then F6 then Enter, i had to repeat the enter squence again, and it exited me out of the program. I then manually opened up HijackThis and removed the things. i don't know if that makes any difference or not. I wouldn't think it would.

Can you send me a new link for the ActiveScan. The one on there doesn't work.

and i don't see a vundofix.txt file in the folder. Is that something to be worried about?? Do i need to run Vundo Fix again and HijackThis again?

Edit: Another question. When i run VundoFix again, should i disconnect from the internet? I didn't last time and i was wondering if i should this time, unless there is another route to take in removing this.

Cliff Notes

-Ran Vundofix and had to Enter-F6-Enter twice (i entered the C:\... only once though)
-HijackThis did not come up after the Enter-F6-Enter code, I had to manually go and open it.
-Select entries and hit Fix, however, after looking over the Hijack this log posted above, it seems a few of them stayed put.
-Uninstalled all of the viewpoint programs
-No VundoFix.txt file was created.
-Ran CleanUp, and need new link for ActiveScan
-So, big question is: Should I run VundoFix again and see if it works or should i try a different approach?

They must have took down that link. OK, try this link for Panda ActiveScan.

Yes, try running VundoFix again. You shouldn't be online since you were asked to boot into Safe Mode.

When done, boot back to Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log along with the Panda log.

You have to give me the whole ActiveScan log. Is there a filename mentioned there? That would help :tazz: Just delete that file found.

Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

unfortunately, i don't have the file name or the log. I think it was on a back up file for HijackThis, so i will prolly end up uninstalling Hijack this and then deleting whatever remains in the folder. Everything seems fine now. I have had my computer on for a while (2-3 hours) and i haven't had any pops for it. So i think, thanks to your help, i got rid of it. Thank you every much. Your assistance was greatly appricated. :tazz:
If i have any other problems, i will be back, but right now, i think this problem is solved. Give me a couple of days and i will report back with a final decision. Thanks again.

One other question, i am cleaning off my desktop. Is it alright to delete the VundoFix app and folder or is it needed to keep this file off?

And other noob question. I tried to delete my folder containing Hijackthis and it said "Moving, renaming, or deleting 'HijackThis folder' could cause some programs not to work. Are you sure you want to continue?" Can i delete the folder with out any repercussions on my system? The folder appears to have backup files to the entries deleted. Is it ok to delete them, or are they causing the prompt? Thanks for putting up with my noob questions.

I would wait out these few days to see if all your programs work first....then delete the HijackThis backups folder. You may keep HijackThis if you wish or delete it.

VundoFix may be deleted from the desktop. It's not needed anymore.

You may delete everything for HijackThis after a few days if you don't have any problems. Ignore that error.

Post back after a few days on the update, so I can close this topic and mark it resolved if everything is ok.
