Aurora virus (nail.exe) removal [CLOSED]

For about a week I've been getting annoying Aurora popups. I tried:
-deleting nail.exe from my C:\Windows folder, but it reappears within seconds.
-killing related processes in my task manager, but they reappear as quickly as I kill them.
-per the introductory instructions, CleanUp, Adaware, CWShredder, Spybot S&D, ewido, scanning with my regular antivirus (symantec). They found lots of other things, but aren't touching this one.
-HijackThis. I tried the "fix" function for the nail.exe registry entry, but it reappears on the next scan.
-I downloaded the nailfix file mentioned in another post on this topic. However, I don't know how to get into safemode on this computer to run it. (I thought there was an option to enter safemode on startup, but apparently not in XP.)

Please help. I'll be forever grateful.
