I was asked initally to help a friend remove the about:blank program and I am having some problems with what appears to be self-replicating viruses and malware (obviously way more stuff on here than about:blank).

I went to the "Please read this before posting a log" and tried all the tests with the following results...

1. Ran Cleanup
2. Ran Adaware as directed and cleaned up all sorts of viruses and malware.
3. Ran CWShredder and found CWS:Homesearch and cleaned it, but it keeps coming back after a reboot.
4. Ran Spybot and found over 300 various things that can't delete 27 or so Coolwwwsearch items. They come back every reboot.
5. I downloaded Ewido and start the scan, but once it finds its first item (which is part of coolwwwsearch), the program dies and won't complete the scan.
6. Trend Housecall ran and locks up at about 70% or so.
7. He had Norton on the PC, but it was disabled by a program through the scanning. So, I deleted the prpgram for him and downloaded AVG and found over 2000 items mostly Downloader virus.
8. Downloaded Trojanhunter but it says the computer is virus-free.
9. I can't get to Windows Update...their web site appears to be having problems as I can't get past the initial screen and it gives an error that the web page has encountered and problem.
