Hi guys. I've been clean for a while now but I have just been hit with 180search assistant. I also notice I have a program file called "AdTools Service" - don't know if that's good or bad.

I've been through the following steps:
1. I uninstalled 180search assistant using add/remove programs - it was there in the list with its own "uninstall" program - I was a bit suspicious of this, but I uninstalled it anyway base on dark star's log - was this the right thing to do?
2. I have run CleanUp!
3. I have run Ad-Aware and have a log if you need it. I think it found 358 files which I selected all for removal.
4. I ran CWS shredder - nothing to fix
5. I ran Sbybot and immunised
6. I downloaded Ewido and scanned with this. It found something like 15 files, but when I tried to save the log, it crashed the computer - is this worrying?
7. Trend Housecall didn't want to download, so I left that.
8. I tried to check my XP download status, particularly for SP1a, but the microsoft site is a nightmare to navigate if you don't want to update automatically (presumably to SP2, which I was nervous about). Anyhow, I couldn't find SP1a - it suggested a couple of other things, but I left those. I think I have SP1 and obviously want to upgrade to SP2 once I am confident the computer is clean.
9. Finally, I've run HiJack This. The log is below.

followed instructions, but when I looked for c:\windows\wordpad.exe it wasn't there so I couldn't delete it. hence when I went to empty the recycle bin it was already empty, too

Hello!

First, please disable Ewido Guard. It might interfere with the fixes.

Next:

Please download cureit;
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

Run drweb - cureit
Double-click the "drweb-cureit.exe" and click "ok" in the prompt window that will open, asking "start the express scan now".
It will first make a quick scan of your system, let it clean what it finds, and when it says "done" in the lower left corner click on all your drive's.
A red dot will mark the selected drive(s) . Then hit the pedestrian who now has turned green.
Click on the green man in the right corner, it will scan ALL your drive's, hit yes to all.

Reboot.

Post a fresh HiJackThis log once finished.
