I am receiving popups directing me to the winantispyware site, similar to what others have described. I also have one other symptom that may be unrelated. I have noticed that on the taskbar at regular intervals (approx every 5 minutes) a new "window" will flash up and immediately disappear. I have no idea what that is, nor how to find out.

I have followed the prerequisite steps with these results:
--Cleanup 4.0 run at "standard" level.
--Multiple runs of Adaware SE at suggested settings until a clean run resulted.
--Multiple runs of Spybot S&D until a clean run resulted. Note: it detects and removes the winfixer tracking cookie - but doesn't remove the infection.
--CWShredder run results: it finds VX2.Look2Me, but is unable to remove it (CWShredder crashes after the mandatory reboot); subsequent runs continue to find VX2.Look2Me.

I am running Norton (Symantec) Firewall and Norton AntiVirus 8.07.17c

I am (and have been) up-to-date with my Windows Updates - running XP SP2.

My online scan with housecall was clean.

Thanks for your help!! Here is my HJT log: (looks like mljjk is suspicious to my untutored eye, and I don't recognize WLTRYSVC right off either....)

I realize I am breaking forum form by replying to my own problem, but I saw the pattern in the excellent instructions provided to others with this problem, so I took a stab at it on my own. :-) I will consider it solved unless further complications arise, in which case I will enter it as a new topic.

In addition to following the instructions, I also used HijackThis to Fix two other BHO's that were suspicious:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

These were fingered as being related to "horseserver" when I did online research 'bout 'em. I hope this stops the intermittent window I was seeing flash up on the taskbar...

AND please note! This has caused the VX2.Look2Me to no longer be detected by CWShredder, so it looks like we got that one too!

Thanks so much to y'all for making this info available. Nod o' th' cap to crustyoldbloke for giving the directions that I followed.

Here is the resultant HJT log for those interested:
