The following simple steps deleted 2 annoying pop-ups in about 10 seconds.
They have not been seen since. (Hopefully i'm not missing something!!)

The pop ups were: Winfixer, and WinAntiSpyware 2005.

== BACKGROUND NOTES: ==
- As far as I can tell they are 100% gone (no sign of them for 4 days)
- The 2 programs were never fully installed on my computer, but everytime I started my computer they 2 pop-ups displayed, asking me to start downloading.
- After each start-up, I was able to un-display the pop-ups by using Alt-Cntl-Del and ending the applications.
- Each of the 2 programs had an icon on my desktop to fully download the rest of the programs.

== SIMPLE STEPS ==
(a) Find the desktop icon for either WinFixer or WinAntiSpyware
(b) Opposite click* on the icon (to display menu), then normal click on Properties
© click on the tab called Shortcut
(d) click on Find Target
(e) click on Delete this file
(f) Repeat for the second malware, if necessary

Done!

*EG: If you use right handed mouse, opposite click means use the right button to display the pop-up menu

Hopefully this works for you.
Let me know if I am missing something- but it has been perfect for 4 days.
