Please help. My computer has an infection of sometype of adware that seems to be related to Winfixer 2005 that has not been installed. Opening IE results in Ewido reporting the following

C:\Windows\msagent\chars
Spyware.Virtumonde

I have run all of the programs identifed in the Website and had Adaware and Norton Antivirus running when the infection took place.

Thanks for the assistance. It looks like I have run into some issues along the way.


1) The following entry did not exist in my HJT report: O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\msagent\chars\logcab.dll

2) ActiveScan Freezes on the following file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll, I have tried running several times.

About:Buster MUST be updated before you use it.
Check the About:Buster Tutorial for instructions.
Don't run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Run About:Buster. This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them. It will ask to scan the system again, let it. Save the report (copy and paste into notepad or wordpad and save as a .txt file) and post a copy back here when you are done with all the steps.

Reboot back to normal mode.
