I have read and followed all the instructions 2 times and my pc is running worse than ever ! All the programs recommended found several items and cleaned or deleted them but they are coming back somehow. Worse , when I reboot it takes ten minutes.

I am desperate for help !

It is taking forever to even type this. I have no idea why either, except I keep getting the Winfixer stuff and once inawhile some dating match ad too. Oh did I mention on the second run the anti-spyware programs are freezing up now.

Anyway I hope it is ok to post my Hijack this log because I have downloaded and run all the stuff twice now.

Thanks a Gazillion

Welcome eternal_camnation to Geeks to Go!

You are running HijackThis from its zipped archive.
Please create a new folder for it and unzip the program into it.

***

Update AdAware SE 1.06 to the latest definitions.

***

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\palstart.exe
Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.
    it should look like this

    VundoFix V2.1 by Atri
By pressing enter you agree that you are using this at your own risk
Please seek assistance at one of the following forums:
    http://www.atribune.org/forums
    http://www.247fixes.com/forums
    http://www.geekstogo.com/forum
    http://forums.net-integration.net

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhi.dll
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\system32\ihhkj.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. for example if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would have the user enter odnuv.*
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
  • In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://us.rd.yahoo.c...//www.yahoo.com

Thank you so much for your time and help.

I have a question before I proceed tho. I did download Hijack This and then I redid it and saved it to my desktop. I am not sure that I understand that I understand what I would be doing.

My apologies but I have no skills or knowledge at all.

Best Regards and Thank You Again

I am sorry but one more dumb question .......

you said ....... At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ihhkj.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. for example if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would have the user enter odnuv.*

I am questioning you said enter odnuv ....... what do I do with the dll part is it entered and is it entered backwards as well?

Sorry but I am not sure. :) :tazz:

Thx Again

There are no dumb question (other than the onces not asked :tazz: ).
You just put HijackThis in a permanent folder. It creates backups of all changes we make. In a permanent folder we can restore them if we have to.

As for the Vundofix:
Just enter this one
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ihhkj.*

The 'vundo/odnuv' part is an explanation.

Hi Again,

I tried the instructions several times but I cannot get past the boot up in safe mode.

When the user log in page comes up it is all distorted and the font is huge and blurry. Then after waiting (it takes forever to scroll down to my user name) a black window comes up and nothing ever happens ... there is only a black screen. I waited pretty long before retrying and the same thing happens again.

What am I doing wrong ? :tazz:

Thank you Again!

In safe mode it will all look funny.

Do the advise in normal mode then, we'll see how far we can get.

Ok, I did it all in safe mode.

I could not find the following to check on Hijackthis to delete:

O2 - BHO: SST - {FFFFDA2C-A0D5-4D60-8EE1-1B7F8929E24D} - C:\Program Files\Lycos\sst.dll (file missing)

and

O4 - Global Startup: palstart.exe

Then while I was doing this the Ewido program kept poping up and saying it had found malware that and I could not make it go away so I just left it up, as I had no choice.

I also did not get the blue screen of death.

The reboot took as long as ever. I think some of the new spy stuff I downloaded are part of the problem. Especially the Killbox thing, as when it loads it says there is an error each and every time.

Once I was able to get a browser the winfixer ad came back but would not load. It now says there is an error and inside the browser is blank.

Also when I open browsers Ewido is still telling me it has found jkhhi.dll

As I type this the updated Adware Se is scanning.

Now what?

Thank you Again

I am sorry I made a mistake it was not the killbox. It was the trend spy catcher thing ( the one in the instrucitons that is to be used before posting a log )that was giving me an error on start up. I deleted that program because I think that it was conflicting with one or more of my other programs.

My apology I should have re-read the reply before posting but I am not sure if I would have caught it cuz I was a bit nervous :tazz:

I have rebooted since then and the pc is running 100 faster already but the start up still takes forever.

Thank you again and here is the latest Hijackthis log;

Open HijackThis
Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhi.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 –k

O20 - Winlogon Notify: jkhhi - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhi.dll (file missing)

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running.
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

***

Reboot the computer.

***

Please run the Panda ActiveScan and safe the report.

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log (please turn of wordwrap in Notepad) and the Panda report.

Thanks a gazillion again for your ongoing help.

Something is wrong tho. Everytime I try to run Panda Scan it starts and stops in the exact same place which is at C:\WINDOWS\system32\nddll.dll.

I am running Zone Alarm Pro the full version and I find it odd it never requested that I give it permission for the Panda Scan. Is it possible that it is not working properly or the firewall is causing a problem?

I am also getting this from Spy Catcher on startup:

Report error
The Tenebril product you are using has encountered an error. It has opened your browser to this page and entered the error information below. We hope you will take the time to answer the remaining questions about your computer, and click the "Send" button at the bottom of this page.

This program caught one object when I ran it per the instructions and it says if I delete it. Whatever it has caught will be released, so I have kept it.

What should I do next ? Run Hijackthis without Panda ?

Thank you again for your time and patience

:tazz: OMG I am so sorry. I am so dumb :) :) :)

It was not froze it was catching something!!!!

I am so used to programs freezing and crashing, I just assumed it had again.

My apology this stopped for a full 10 minutes and when it began scanning again it has found two spywares.

I will let it run and give the results when it is finished completely.

My regrets for the xtra posts.
