NHL 06 Help

For some strange reason, NHL 06 crashes to the desktop around half way through playing through the first period. I easily meet the system requirements. I've already uninstalled the game, updated video drivers, uninstalled old video drivers, updated audio drivers, reinstalled game. Still crashes during the first.

Anyone else having similar issues? Ideas?
