This seems to be a popular topic, but the directions say not to reply in other people's topics so I will start my own. I would like to start off by saying that I am rather retarded when it comes to computers, and computers in general just frustrate me. Saying that makes me feel like a senior citizen, however, I am not.

I don't know if this is related to Winfixer2005 or not, but last night I was unable to access www.google.com. I thought maybe it was just my connection being stupid, but I came to find out that it wasn't. Various other websites are starting to 'timeout' and it is on both internet explorer and firefox. I am also unable to connect to aim, however, that really does not bother me.

I downloaded hijackthis... because everyone else did, so in a sense I am trying to copy every one else. Here is the logfile... someone please guide me with directions a five year old could comprehend.

My active scan hasn't finished, but I just wanted to say now that when I ran clean up and followed the directions, at the end, hijack this did not open. I was just presented with a screen telling me to press enter to force a reboot. I don't know if that will affect the ending result or not, but I guess only time will tell.

1. Open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

Random question: Why is it that only some websites load slower than others or not at all? This one for example, takes nearly a minute to load. Others I can't load at all. Just wondering.

I don't see anything in your Hijackthis log that would cause that problem.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

• Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
• Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
• How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
• How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

To protect yourself further:

• IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
• Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.

Ok, well is there anything you know of that would block me access to certain websites? I just don't see any reason for me not to be able to load google. It is just my computer. And sites that load quickly for others no longer do so on my computer. This all changed in a matter of days.
