JPEG, GIF, javascript pop-ups won't open

when i try to open links to jpeg or gif images, or javascript pop-ups, i get an open hand over a stop sign and nothing else. this problem started maybe a month ago. i haven't had any other problems. i did a system restore and still no luck. i also get it trying to access the MY ASSISTANT button in the same bar as the loggin greeting here on G2G.
