system just reboots randomly

Hi - first of all id like to thank the people running this forum/site and for letting me join

my friends computer is running windows xp.

It sometimes reboots randomly

i downloaded the files suggested and ran a few of them

Hijack this will not run, niether will killbox
but the others do.

i don't know how i can remove it of fix his comp, please help

i have tellcoma.exe which i think is a virus
and search180 assistant

i ran winsockxpfix and now i cannot connect to the net
just as well i have a nother cpu handy, sheesh

can somone give me the next step to try..
i would like to keep the existing files on his cpu so cannot do a fresh install of XP
