well, i just discovered this site and i appericate everything you guys/gals do. anyway, i am having problems with winfixer and winantispyware poping up when i browse with Internet explorer. i have tried everything..... Ad-aware, spybot, trendmircro, CC cleaner, and i even have norton internet security 2005, with the firewall installed. i have the google toolbar but it doesnt work againt this. every time i open the browser, i get a random popup from either the 2 sites i listed, or some random site, it varies each time. i was wondering if you could help me fix this problem. thanks. here is my log.

hi again. first off, thanks for going browsing through that huge log file to find the problems. i remember looking at some of the BHO's that you pointed out and figured they were bad, but didnt do anything because of fear. so , i did what you said, but its kinda funny. when i ran it in safe mode, some of the BHO's were not present that were in the list of things to delete. i deleted what i could, and followed the instructions, ran Cleanup and the Virus scan. then i ran Hijack this again, and this time, i saw the ones that were not there before. so i deleted it. so far when i run IE, those [bleep] things dont show up anymore. but ill let you be the judge on if something suspicious is still roaming around on my computer. heres the logs:

Your log is clean

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

• Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
• Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
• How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
• How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

To protect yourself further:

• IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
• Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.
