I've just come home for the holidays and noticed aaawebsearch on my parents' computer. Not good...I've played around with HijackThis and now aaawebsearch only appears when I terminate my IE browser, before it also was the default homepage. I installed Firefox as well, but haven't noticed the problem (with aaawebsearch) there.

Any help is of course greatly appreicated!

Here is my most recent Hijackthis log:

You know what you should try, you should try SpyHunter Version 1.1.3. It's out-dated but it might help you with your problems. It's also free so you can use it whenever you want. The aaawebsearch most likely messes with your registry, and thats why it keeps coming back. This is the direct link to download the free scanner: http://www3.enigmaso.../spyhunterS.exe. To access the memory, just press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and click on Processes. To access the Registry, Click on the Start menu, and click run, then type in regedit. SpyHunter will tell you the rest.

I forgot to tell you something, you have to remove everything you find manually. It's probably gonna stress you a lot but it's worth it. :tazz:

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {09F2502F-C8BC-EC6B-4B09-F2D06712FBC7} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\moclngu.exe

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [A89C5FE3] C:\WINDOWS\system32\moclngu.exe

O16 - DPF: {10003000-1000-0000-1000-000000000000} - ms-its:mhtml:file://c:\nosuch.mht!http://yxz.aflashcou...masta.chm::/exe

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\moclngu.exe

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:
