Hi kimmy3480 and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. If you haven't logged in go to Geeks to Go and do so. Then proceed to item a.

If you already have logged in, go directly to item a.
  • Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window.
  • In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
  • If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there
2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from its present location.

4. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here . Please choose the default location of C:\Program Files\ as the destination. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click SCAN and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')
  • POST the ENTIRE log into this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste'). Your previous post did no contain the uppermost portion of the HJT log which is essential

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

1. Please repeat steps 3 and 4 of my previous post

2. Also, please post your log in single space format instead of double spaced.

To remove the double spacing in your log, please do the following:
  • Please go to Start >> Run... and type notepad.exe
  • Hit OK.
  • Now go to Format and uncheck WordWrap.
  • Close Notepad.

I have tried to download Hijack This to my C:. It isn't working. With the "click here" link you gave me, I can only "save to disk," and then is defaults to the desktop.

I don't want to post my log again because I know you are going to type the same thing. What should I do?

Thanks

I have just tried the link that I gave you and the installation gives you the choice where to install it. The default they suggest is C:\Program Files\

Inasmuch as this option does not appear to be available to you, please create a New Folder in C:\Program Files and call it HJT.

Then copy your current version of HJT to this newly-created Folder.

Regards,

Trevuren

That's Perfect

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Also note, one must be either logged in under the Administrator account or have administrator privileges to be able to successfully complete these procedures

1. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please REBOOT your computer into Safe Mode.

You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.

  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.
    it should look like this

    VundoFix V2.1 by Atri
By pressing enter you agree that you are using this at your own risk
Please seek assistance at one of the following forums:
    http://www.atribune.org/forums
    http://www.247fixes.com/forums
    http://www.geekstogo.com/forum
    http://forums.net-integration.net

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff

Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqtss.*
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
2. The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

    • O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll
