Hello all,

For awhile my anti-virus has been popping up messages of Virus 12345.exe being detected but cannot delete... and everytime I get that message, the name of the .exe file changes to a different number. It is a w32: trojan YV or something like that.

And I also have problems with my web browser, everytime I click on a google search result, it brings me to an add page, then if I click back and re-click the same link it will take me to the page I want. Its getting pretty annoying.

So if anyone can help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated. I've run all the utilities found in ur MUST READ BEFORE POSTING HIJACK THIS LOG thread and still the problem persists, so here is my Hijack this log :

Welcome to GTG.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* When asked for a second path, enter --> G:\WINDOWS\ksid_8704427q.*
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
O2 - BHO: G:\WINDOWS\adsldpbc.dll - {405132A4-5DD1-4BA8-A181-95C8D435093A} - G:\WINDOWS\adsldpbc.dll
O2 - BHO: G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll - {B212D577-05B7-4963-911E-4A8588160DFA} - G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.coolwebsearch.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.searchmeup.com

Delete ALL the O18 entries below for Logitech, except for the first one (see below). Leave that one unchecked:

O18 - Protocol: bw+0 - {8AF861E0-29CE-47A8-A119-CFAD77389099} - G:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BWPlugProtocol-8876480.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: style32 - G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll

Delete these if found:

G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll
G:\WINDOWS\adsldpbc.dll

* After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
* Pressing any key will cause a 'Blue Screen of Death' this is normal, do not worry!
* Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp! http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

HEy there, I couldn't use the vundo file because my buddy had already checked my Hijackthis log and told me to delete the files you had mentioned.

But everything else has been done. Here is my new Highjackthis log.

Btw, I still have that pesky virus for some reason... can't seem to get rid of it.

What is the virus filename and where is it located? Can you delete it?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Make sure you downloaded, installed, updated and ran these programs (run in Safe Mode) already - Ad-aware, Spybot and Ewido. If you didn't, do them now. For more information, go to http://www.greyknigh...com/spyware.htm

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
O20 - Winlogon Notify: style32 - G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

G:\WINDOWS\q7244078_disk.dll - if you can still find it

Restart and run BOTH these scans:

Run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the free online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. If any are not cleanable, copy and paste the infected files here. You may also use Panda ActiveScan at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.
