I've been receiving help with this problem on the Windows XP forum without much
success. It was suggested that I try the Malware forum in case there was some
malware, spyware, or trojan that may be causing the problem. I went through all the
steps in the Malware Removal cleaning process first. Still no luck with the registry
problem. I wouldn't worry about the message popping up at start-up if it wasn't for
the fact that half the time Windows XP sp2 loads incorrectly or suddenly reboots for
no reason. Here is the message that pops up at the log-in screen:

---------------------------
Windows - Registry Recovery
---------------------------
One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Any help appreciated.
