since i added dsl internet service, i cannot open word documents in email

What error message, if any, do you get when you try to open them? Most likely it is a security setting that is not allowing you to open .doc files in that they may be a virus.

Open Outlook Express and click Tools then click Options.
Under the Security tab, uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" under "Virus Protection", and then click "Ok".

As per Fenor, are you getting an error message?? If so, what does it say EXACTLY??

Lastly, I do assume you have Microsoft Word installed??
