Hi Lubos,

I know what we need to do next !!! And I guess that is good. :tazz:

Run Hijack This. Click on config ---> Main.

Uncheck the box - "Make Backups before fixing items".

Now click on "back" ---> Scan.

Fix the following entry -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWFX5] "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Y9WFA9M5\WinFixer2005ScannerInstall[1].exe"

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Delete the file - C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall6_38.exe

Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log

Hi Tampabelle,
I unchecked the "Make Backups before fixing items" box then ran the scan, but when i wanted to fix
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWFX5] "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Y9WFA9M5\WinFixer2005ScannerInstall[1].exe"

I received the same error message. I managed to delete the file
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall6_38.exe

I appolagize that this issue isnt going so smoothly like the other posts that i've read.

Here is my HJT log.

Lubos

Hi lubos,

First of all its not your fault that the file is proving to be so sticky.

Second I will find alternate means of fixing it and guess what - we can do it. :tazz:

Please download SilentRunners from here:
http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.zip

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it.

If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as fix.reg
Save as type:All files (The first line in the file should be REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"NI.UWFX5"=-

Double click on fix.reg and let it merge with your registry.

1) Please download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

2) Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

3) Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

4) Select "Delete on Reboot".

5) Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Y9WFA9M5\WinFixer2005ScannerInstall[1].exe"
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall6_38.exe

6) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

7) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

IN case it doesnt reboot automatically, then manually reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log please

Wanted to check about one entry -

C:\iexplorer.exe

You have internet explorer running out of this fiolder ?? usually it is installed in one of the sub-folders in C:\Program Files.

Your log is otherwise clean.

Do you have any issues with your PC ???

Hi Tampabelle
Yeah that is very weird why there is an iexplorer.exe in my C drive because i've got one in my program files also. Do you think its save to delete the one thats in C drive? I'll keep monitoring it and see if i get any more of those pesky winfixer pop ups. I really appreciate all your help. Thank you very much.
Regards
Lubos

Can you check the file properties and let me know the source of the file??

If it is microsoft, then we can leave it.

Hi Tampabelle,
The only information i can find out about it is that it was created on
Wednesday, September 14, 2005, 4:22:14 PM
file version is 1.0.0.0
company is Mi
language Chinese (taiwan)
there is no describtion or copyright

the internet explorer in program files has the Microsoft as the copyright.
Hopefully that helps.

If you have no further idea about the file, then we better delete the file.

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyVBApp] C:\iexplorer.exe

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Delete the file - C:\iexplorer.exe

Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log.

Also let me know how your PC is behaving now !!!!!!
