Saving prior to reinstall

I'm about to reinstall my O/S.
I understand that when it's done, everything will be wiped clean and I'll need to start fresh. That's not a problem (I don't think).
I would like to save all my e-mail correspondence (inbox, sent, etc.)
Where do I find that stuff and can I save it?

Hey Gwats,

In order to help you, we will need to know What email program are you using? That's really gonna determine how you export your address settings and email messages.
