whole house audio using network media

Name says it really. I was hoping there was some way to have my whole house audio control and play the media on my computer. say someone in one room wanted to play song A and another person wanted to play song B or even also play song A. is this possible? if it is what hord/software would i need in order to integrate it into my Home?
