Ad-Aware Freezes

My son clicked on something sent to him via AIM and I suspect there is some malware now. Ad-Aware freezes up after reading around 900 files. Yesterday my watchdog program asked me if I wanted to run "Pokapoka" and I said no. I ran HiJack This and saw a reference to this poka poka, so I checked it in Hijack This and it removed it but my Ad-Aware still freezes. Please help.
