Here ya go! Thanks for your attention to this. Let me know if you think I'm out of the woods? I scanned with Adware and those awful VX2 files seem to be cleared.
When I boot up, there is some weird "Windows Installer" box that pops up and it says something about mediaplayer. When I close it, it doesn't close unless I got to CTRL/ALT/DEL and then end task. Simultaneously, a window pops up and says, "do you want to run this program" (strings.exe)? Not sure it this is related?

(it says browse, okay , cancel) but no matter what I press it doesn't work unless I "end task."

My friend installed this walmart thing to download music from their site but that was a few weeks ago and this is my first time seeing it. I can uninstall it?

I've also installed: CWShredder, Killbox, Hijackthis, FindIt, RegLit, Finditnt2000xp, and Spywareblaster (can you tell I've had a major spyware problem!).

If you get a chance, let me know what you think.

Should be installed after you are clean. It doesn't remove anything. It just protects against invaders.

The easy way out would be to reinstall that Mediaplayer and then uninstall it again.

I hate fiddling with Windows' install log. One can really mess up things there with one tiny error.

Hmm..that link describes my situation! Now that I think about it - the windows installer had originally asked for my digital camera CD (and I complied). And now those for those media files...I will uninstall that Walmart thing b/c who needs it! And I'll let you know if that message comes back. Thank you guys again for all of your help and for getting rid of these horrific malware programs!!

I tried to find the walmart installation info on my computer and the windows installer keeps saying it's not a valid windows program! I tried "to reinstall from Walmart and it won't let me, and it wont even let me remove the program thru control panel add/remove. It says:

"The path http://mediaplayer.w....com/installer/ cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'Wal-Mart Music Downloads Store.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product Wal-Mart Music Downloads Store. "

BUT it's not on my computer and I cant get it from the website!

Any ideas?
