I am reinstalling Windows XP on my PC and I have already deleted all the previous information on my harddrive because I wanted to start from scratch with no information on my PC. When the Setup is almost done, I recieve and error that reads: "Untranslatable Message Win 32 Last Error is 14001." I am gonig to try and run a memtest with a floppy disc to check for memory errors, if I find errors what should i proceed to do next? Or even if I don't, what can I do so I will be able to reinstall windows, Help would be much appreciated.

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

Run the memtest first and make sure all that is fine..

If you still get the error message, I would use a clean lint-free cloth and clean the XP cd .. I would also run a lens cleaner through the cd-rom drive..

If that doesn't work, disconnect all non-required hardware (extra hdd's, soundcard, extra cd drives) and then try the install..

If you still get the error, I would be looking at seeing if I could return the XP cd as defective..
