Hi guys! New to the board. I've had a WinFixer problem now for awhile, and decided to start researching today. Of corse I found this site and relized "WinFixer" in spyware. Followed instructions from this site to get it off my computer, and it seems that it has worked. Thanks BTW for those who have posted the info. on how to do this!

I downloaded Hijack This-v1.99.1 and did a system scan. I want to know for sure if there are anymore problems on my computer. If you all can help me out and check this log for me I would greatly appericate it! Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Download the Istbar Removal tool DO NOT RUN IT YET


Boot Into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.


View Hidden Files and Folders
Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.


NOW Run the Symantec Istbar Removal Tool and follow the prompts for removal.

Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs:

Start HijackThis Fix

I never did find a ISTbar problem, but I did have a ISTsvc problem. I deleted it though while I was following your instructions! How does everything look above guys?! Thanks,

At this point the scanner would need you to choose what part of your computer to scan, it hasnt even started yet! - or such is my understanding (testing again now) -
Try again, and when you get to that screen, select "my computer".
