I am running a Compaq Presario 5330US PC, Windows XP SP2.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find a BIOS upgrade.

When I log on again tonight, I will post the specs.

Thanks in advance! :tazz:

This link should take you to the download page for your model.

I think what you're looking for is the ROMPaq stuff. You'll want to flash the BIOS. If you're not fully aware of how to do that, reply here to that effect.

If you're still interested, there IS a newer BIOS availiable for your system.

Follow this link and download the file.

It will most likely be a disk image. So, insert a formatted, blank 3.55" floppy disk into your A drive and run the executable.

Then, with the disk still IN your A drive, reboot your system and follow the prompts.

Thanks, Guse! I'll install it tonight and check to see if it works. I'm at work right now, so I'll put it on a disk for later.

Ok, I updated the BIOS, but I ran into a problem. You see, after I came last night, I put the disk and the computer froze. I left it alone until this morning and saw it on the same screen: "Reprogamming Firmware. Do NOT reboot or power cycle your machine."

Afterwards, I turned the computer off and turned it back on. I finally got the BIOS upgraded, but now I can't access my files or anything!! Good thing I backed up most of my files. Is there I anything I can do, except install a new OS?

Ok, I installed Windows XP Professional SP2 on my PC, and recovered everything.

I feel a bit better now.
