Hello there

This is my first time using this forum but after surfing around the site
I have to say you lot are legends!

Basically I think my computer has malware of some sort that I may have
tried to block in rather unsubtle ways that are causing negative effects.
More and more often when I try to connect to the internet (broadband)
my computer bluescreens.

Now I don't know if this could be to do with the modem perhaps (my sister
often shuts down without disconnecting) but today norton mentioned
c:/temp/installer2.exe having a trojan

grr this is all annoying

plus I have installed service pack 2 already which may be a problem

thanks in advance

Welcome Chris to GTG :tazz:

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide. Also see this post.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
