I got my counterstrike game working again but now my only problem is it's lagging really bad. I just switched from dial up to comcast broadband cable and my pings really good but I can't get rid of the lagging. Is there something I need to change on my settings or something? its driving me crazy. Also when I try to pull up my console it pops up for a second but then closes I can't get it to stay open. Any idea's?

Thanks

go to http://www.dnsstuff.com and ping this site or big sites like http://www.yahoo.com

for cable, they should be around 40ms ish. if they are consistent then its not your cable, perhaps a cs setting.

Also, is it on one particular server or any server?

I was able to figure it out...i just had to change the fps and now it doesn't lag anymore. Thanks though. You guys have a cool site. Oh there is one more question I have...when I try to get on the geekstogo arcade it won't let me anymore. I get this IPB template error. Do you know why?

Hey. I am a computer geek who is becoming a poor unfortunate newb daily... but how did you change the fps on CS? I have severe lag and I do not know if it is either of the following:

1) Radeon X300 Videocard (which I thought would work fine on full video settings)
2) Telus ADSL Internet service
3) My lousy 4 year old CRT monitor
4) My router / ethernet cable

I would love feedback to this. Thx

When I try the ping test on that site it says *no response* on all 4 counts.

I am thinking that my router (or internet connection) may be the problem. When I pinged yahoo.com from dnsstuff.com, I got about 78-80ms and the suggested from one of the previous posts was about 40ms.

I am using a D-Link Wireless G Router (but not going wireless cuz that is even slower)

Hope this narrows it down for ya all. Thx ahead of time =)
