Hi there,

I keep getting this message that I'm infected with this virus, but it cannot be quarantine or cleaned. Then this PSGuard appears and when my antivirus says it's deleted, on my next rebooth it appears again. I don't know what to do. I've seen other people have the same problem but I still don't know what to do. :tazz:
I hope you can help me.

Help is much appreciated. :)

Take your time.

Here is my Hijackthis log:

Hi and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Sam and I will be helping you. :tazz:

Before we can get started on fixing your problem you must change the location of Hijackthis. It should not run directly from your desktop or a temp directory. Please create a directory on your c: drive called c:\hijackthis and download and unzip hijackthis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on. It is essential that you follow these steps or certain important features of the program will not function correctly.

Once you have Hijackthis running from a permanent folder, please reboot and post a new hijackthis log.

Hi there! :)

I didn't really know how to do what you told me to do :tazz: but I tried. I opened the zip file and then right-click extract to c:\hijackthis. Then opened it from there.
Here's mi log.
Thanks for the help. :)

You did it exactly right! :tazz:
Now let's get you cleaned up. :)

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

O2 - BHO: BHOmodObj Class - {7F6828CA-9E42-462C-BC60-418C8144012C} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BHOMOD00.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PSGuard] C:\Archivos de programa\PSGuard\PSGuard.exe

Please download SmitRem.zip
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
* if you have trouble getting into Safe mode go here for more info.

Once in Safe mode, follow these steps:
  • Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool.
  • Follow the prompts on screen.
  • Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
  • The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Post the log file from Smitrem as well as a new hijackthis log.

Oh, and by the way, can I change my background or do I leave the blue one? :tazz:

You should be able to change the background however you wish now.

We need to determine if your winnet.dll file is infected.
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "File to upload & scan" box on the top of the page:
    • C:\Windows\System\wininet.dll
  • Click on the submit button
  • Please post the results in your next reply.

Ok, I did that but this message appears.

The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file

Well, I do not have Norton. What I have is Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition. Do I disable this? :tazz: If so, how? :)

I'm sorry - Symantec makes Norton. Same program - different name.

To disable it right click on the icon in the lower right taskbar. You should have an option to disable.

Well, I have a disk and floppies of installation. But I don't think the floppies are needed. The disk says SystemBoard pc100. Is this it?

Click start>run and type command

Type:

copy c:\windows\system\wininet.dll c:\windows\desktop

Reboot. Scan the desktop folder with eTrust Web Scanner. When done, make sure the box is check for wininet.dll and click cure.

Reboot to command prompt and delete system\wininet and oleadm (oleext), then copy clean wininet from desktop.

del c:\windows\system\wininet.dll

del c:\windows\system\oleext.dll

copy c:\windows\desktop\wininet.dll c:\windows\system

Let me know how it goes.
