You just upload them and place a link the same as you would for a .jpg or an .mpeg. That way they can be left clicked and opened or right clicked and save target as.

Just a tip, I'd use a PDF format. It's more friendly for document sharing.

Don't you have to buy the adobe software to use PDF docs? (or find someone that has it?)

I didn't know you could use the .pdf format unless you bought the software.

Yes, but will that allow you to convert .doc or .txt to .pdf?

Ooh, I see what you meant. Yes, you're right. To create pdf's you need to have Acrobat (or Acrobat Professional? I forgot what it's called).

If you have the latest WordPerfect, you can convert Word docs to PDF without having to buy a program.

Cute PDF will also convert to PDF. It add's a virtual printer. If I remember, it is free and is not a trial version.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone.
My problem is this. I have Tripod site I'm putting together. I have MS Word docs that I want to place on the site so my team can dowload them when they want.
Does it have to be in pdf format. I have a Converter from .pdf to .doc.
Is there no way to place the document on the site without having it a .pdf???? :tazz:
Please remember to keep this simple because I'm a "subgeek" when it comes to this stuff.

With PDF file, jpeg, .doc, (any file you want to post online) just FTP the file to your webspace using either Internet Explorer or any FTP program. Then create a link on your webpage refering to that file. Only people that have the program relating to that particular file type will be able to view it, that's why I recommended a PDF because it's something universal...meaning most everyone has it. If you post a Word doc. you run the risk of some people not being able to view the file as you intended because not everyone uses Word.

Hope this helps. :tazz:
