i have a compaq presario. I plugged in a usb camera cable which i know had no virus or anything on it and my computer shut off and has been doing the following since. when i turn the computer on it goes to the compaq screen with the intel symbol, beeps once, then has a long continuous beep for however long you leave it on, all while on the same screen. my mouse and keyboard are also inactive so i cant access setup or anything. i put the windows xp home into the cd rom drive and same thing happened.

please email me at [email protected] if you know how to solve this, thanks

Just off the top it sounds like your camera or cable had a short which damaged your power supply. Do you see any kind of damage to the USB port?

ldp_frog....

A continuous beep can indicate a faulty power supply or a short or a loose card. By your description of the problem, I would lean towards the power supply and maybe a short in the usb port.
