Hi, I'm a new user, and like my nick suggest, I'm a TOTAL pc idiot...

Lately i've had some MAJOR problems with a program called psguard... it has infested my pc and keep changing my desktop wallpaper to something like "warning! your pc may be infested with spyware......." i think the only spyware is itself....

And also, my AV, anti-vir keeps poping up more than 20 times saying my wininet.dll files contains signature of some W32/Nsag.B virus... After my pc is being attacked, it has become EXTREMELY slow and keep crashing and hanging all the time... When I try to access folder like "control panel" or "my documents", i double the icon but it doesn't open too...

Can someone please help me? Thanks...

I've tried Ad-ware, Spybot - Search & Destory, AVG, Anti-Vir, cwshedder, nothing helps....

Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan.
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt (C:\smitfiles.txt) log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan.
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt (C:\smitfiles.txt) log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let us know if any problems persist.

My PC espcially IE is running EXTREMELY slow, taking up to 5 mins to load a simple single page... what could be the problem? considering i'm on cable and running at p4, windows XP with 256 RAM

Please download the Killbox.
Please do NOT run it yet.

• Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.
  
• Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.
  
• Select "Delete on Reboot".
  
• Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

• Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
  
• Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
  
  If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..
  
  
• Let the system reboot.

Find and delete this folders :
C:\!Submit <= this folder

Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

Then reboot your computer again!

Through the Smitfraud infection is your wininet.dll infected! And from what I see you don't have a clean version on your system. So you need to update your Windows XP to get the newest (and a clean) version of wininet.dll

This can be accessed by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and following the prompts. Get updated to SP-2

Then reboot your computer again.

Again go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and following the prompts. Get all the critical updates avalible

Then reboot again.

Run Panda's online virus scan and perform a full system scan: Panda ActiveScan

Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log in your next reply.
