Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat

• Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Please could you navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljji.dll and make sure the file is there.

If it is present, Atribune, the "vundofix" creator would like to check the file. If possible could you zip the file and send it to [email protected]

Hi John

Make sure you can view hidden files as described below and search again.

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1.
Please ensure Ewido is updated.

2.
Click start > programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup
Click the more options tab
Next click the cleanup button in the system restore section only.
Close disk cleanup

3.
Download and install CleanUp!
Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
When it has finished it may ask you to reboot, click yes and reboot into safe mode.

4.

• Open Ewido
• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin. Ensure no windows/programs are open for the duration of the scan.
• NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

5.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

Next, navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Look for and delete any files with "ijjlm" in, there may be various file extensions, for example.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ijjlm.bak2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ijjlm.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ijjlm.tmp

After that, Reboot.

Followed all the steps found a filenamed ijjlm.ini2 and deleted that as well although it was not one of your examples. Hope it works. I haven't had the winfixer pop up in a while but hadn't done anything new until now since it last popped up. Thanks for all your time, effort and help!! I will keep this thread open for a little while longer, Let me know how yor system is running.

Please rehide the system folders
Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*check the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All files will now be re-hidden.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

• Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  
• AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  
• SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  
• SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  
• IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  
• CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  
• Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  
• Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  
• Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
  
• Weather Watcher - Free taskbar weather program that is free, malware free, and resource light.

Thank you very much for your time and help.
The winfixer has not popped up for a couple of weeks now. I have not used internet explorer for a couple of weeks either. I use internet explorer once and a while now for sites that don't use mozilla, such as MSN. Not sure if the winfixer problem is associated with using IE. Do you think it will start popping up again if I was to use IE again? Anyway, Thanks again!!! John

You should be fine, follow some of the security measures in my last post.
Try IE and see how you go if you prefer it, personally I would carry on the way you are, I do it the same way.
