Hi, once again I'm having problems with my computer. I don't know if I have a virus or what. But I'm getting pop ups even with my pop up blocker on. Also my computer crashes for no reason at all. I did a spy scan and a Hijack and Adware popped up when I did my scan but they seem to come back. I don't know if this is the cause of my problems. And my online media player doesn't want to work.

Can someone please help?

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning.

• After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
• Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
• Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Hi, I'm having trouble starting my computer in Safe mode. Before I get to safe mode, I get a screen that has 3 types of Safe Modes. They are....Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

Whenever I Highlight the regular Safe Mode and press enter, it goes to a screen that looks like my standby screen, it ask for me to logon either as Owner or Administrator. So when I click on either one. It goes to a screen that's completely black, but it says safe mode in all four corners of my computer screen. I have no Icons and I don't have my toolbar, just a black screen.

I've been trying every since last night to get my computer into safe mode.

So, can I just do everything you told me to do in my computers regular format?????

Nope, this fix should be made in safe mode.

Sounds like your explorer.exe is not loading in safe mode..

You could try this:

CTRL+ALT+DELto bring up the task manager (first press CTRL, while still holding it down press ALT and while still holding those two buttons down press DEL)

in task manager go to File > New Task

in the box that opens, type: explorer.exe

If that works, you should get your desktop and you can proceed with the fix,

If not, alternatively you can try running KillVundo.bat from the task manager also

For that, simply in the new task box type: KillVundo.bat

Open HijackThis and click Scan. Put a check next to these:

Hi, Ok I did everything but I couldn't find C:\WINDOWS\system32\fltmgr.dll, I did find two other things that end in .dll but I don't know if I should remove them or not.

I'm still having problems with my Online Media Players. My Window Media player 10 that I have on my computer works fine. But when I try to look at anything on online media players I get nothing. Do you know where I can do to deal with this issue? Also I'm still getting popups from my EI, and I have my popup blocker on.

The file may be hidden, try deleting again C:\WINDOWS\system32\fltmgr.dll after doing this: (don't delete anything else, just that file if you find it.)

Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files:
Click Start. Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Do the popups have a specific URL? I mean are they coming from always the same site?It would help to know.

Also I have a little difficulty with what you mean when you say "Online Media Players". Do you mean other players like Real and Quicktime? Can you give specific examples?

Thanks, I found the fltmrg.dll file and deleted it.

The popups are pop ups that just open in a new window but they don't have a tool bar so I don't know the URL of the popup.

When I say Online Media Player, I mean players for example, If I go to www.launch.yahoo.com and I try to watch a Music video, it will act as if it's loading and but it doesn't. It's stops and says that there was an Error and it gives me this code Error Code: 15 C00D11BB.

Also my internet provider is SBC and they have a Video section where you can look at the news and little funny things, and when I click on a video screen to view the clip, it acts as if it's loading and then the screen goes black and nothing happens. The same thing happen when I go to MTV.com

All these problems started to happen after I let a cousin use my computer. So I don't know what happened.

Try this:

Launch Windows Media Player from its entry in Start>All Programs

Click on the small triangle on the top right hand corner next to the minimize button

Choose Tools>Options

Under file types see if all have a checkmark, if not check them all..

If that doesn't help through Control Panel Add/Remove Programs try uninstalling Windows Media Player 10 and then reinstalling it.

For the popups, let's investigate further..

Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key before windows starts to load. Use the same method via taskmanager if you again don't have your desktop, to launch HijackThis.exe

Create a Startup List

• Open HiJackThis
• Click on the "Config..." button on the bottom right
• Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
• Check off the 2 boxes next to the Box that says "Generate StartupList log"
• Click on the button "Generate StartupList log"
• Copy and past the StartupList from the notepad into your next post which will be in the same folder with HijackThis

Command line options:
/verbose - to add additional info on each section
/complete - to include empty sections and unsuspicious data
/full - to include several rarely-important sections
/force9x - to include Win9x-only startups even if running on WinNT
/forcent - to include WinNT-only startups even if running on Win9x
/forceall - to include all Win9x and WinNT startups, regardless of platform
/history - to list version history only
