XP service pack 2 crashed my system and windows set up hung. So replaced hard drive to 200 gig Western Digital which XP insisted I partition. I also use a slave drive as before 140 gig. The computer will not boot without the slave drive in place at all times. Further, now XP recognises the slave in Device Manager, but the enable drive box is not accessible. Does anyone know why this might be. I wish to get my backup files off the slave and onto the new drive, but windows cannot access the information on it.

Thoughts please
