Synchonization log hangs

Some of our users in the office have had problems with the offline synchronization when exiting outlook 2000. When exiting the program it goes through the synch and then hangs at saving outlook log, we have already tried to delete and recreate the .ost file but this does not seem to work. Can anyone shed some light on this?
