I just reinstalled Windows 98 on a machine and the internet browser is so slow that if the home page does load everything else that I try to go to times out... Any suggestions?

If you have just installed it, click start then Windows Update to get the latest updates which will include the browser

Some of the older versions of 98 can't even handle the script on the update page, that's why I suggested getting the browser first. In fact if the browser is too old to handle the script on the ie6sp1 page you can download the installer to a floppy on another machine and run it from the floppy.

is that windows 98 SE version? if not try to setup the internet explorer from another media including the latest version for 98. Or maybe you can use another browser program such as netscape navigator.
