If you truly don't care about file size, then WAV format would theoretically be the best.
As far as I understand, lossless codecs mean that you can reform the entire original file exactly from the compressed file. Lossy codecs (such as mp3) use some shortcuts and assumptions to allow for small file sizes, but make it so that you can't regain the original file verbatim.
As for wma vs mp3, I am not sure. I like that mp3 has an open source compressor (LAME) and is widely playable by most everything.
Many people are becoming fans of the Ogg Vorbis compression method, which is open source, free and patent-free.
