System Shutdown
This system is shutting down. Please save all
work in progress and log off. Any unsaved
changes will be lost. This shutdown was
initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM

Time before shutdown: 00:00:60

Message
Windows must now restart because the
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service
terminated unexpectedly

The above message is one that I have gotten several times. It seems to only occur when I'm connected to the internet. I have just installed windows XP on a clean hard drive and have never had this problem before. I looked through the forums here and found a similer problem, it was suggested that it was the blaster worm. so I d'loaded the fix and ran it. Still the same problem.. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Bigdogincharge <_<

You do have the blaster worm. It's so widespread that a new installation of XP can become infected very quickly after being connected to the Internet. It's recommended that you enable XP's firewall before connecting to the Internet to prevent infection. Once Windows critical updates have been applied, then the firewall can be disabled if desired.

TO REMOVE: First apply this patch:
http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

Then run the removal tool:
http://securityrespo...moval.tool.html

Here's an alternative removal tool:
http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

If your having problems installing the patch within the 60 sec, when you see the window pop up telling you 60 sec, Go to Start, Run and type in shutdown -a. This will cancel the shutdown attempt.
