Hello!

I really really would love if someone took a look at my HijackThis file. I have been getting a lot of terrible stuff on this computer. I have gone though many different phases of cleaning my system. At this point, I need someone....

The last things I did just in the last couple of hours was to follow all of the steps you requested me to do. I have had both the Alcan worm, and trojan.smitfraud. Also, I think something came into my system and changed the startup for everything. It took over my McAffee, and then I tried to uninstall that and put on te Sygate firewall, but there are still McAfee files that show they are running. The firewall is gone, but the Service Center and Spamware McAfee Agent are still there.

I also think it took over my Internet Explorer. I had Google Toolbar on, but I have tried to remove that as well, but it still seems there are files lingering.

Also, I tried to do a System Restore, and it is not recognizing my computer. It told me, no matter how far I went back, that no changes had been made, and I know that is wrong. I can't get a read on the firewall tests either for the same reason.

Originally, i think Ewido cleaned out some of it. Then, i went online and got all kinds of advice. It is really hard to say exactly what did it if it is even off. Do you think it is gone?

Those files aren't infected. It just pops up sometimes.

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall mcafee.

Also, can go to start...run....and type in "msconfig" without the quotes. Go to the startup tab and uncheck mcafee.

Hi,

I tried to uninstall from Add/Remove Programs. It won't let me take them off. I can delete them off the start menu though. I didn't think of that. Thanks.

If I delete all the McAfee junk from the folders, do you think that will help too? Can I check the McAfee stuff in the HijackThis log and have them removed from there?

You should be able to uninstall McAfee. Sometimes with virus programs, they make you do it in a certain order, I have found. You can check it in hijack this if you want, but make sure you don't start hijack this from a temporary folder.
