Invalid backweb application error 1940576

I get this error when my pc boots up, i recently went through a lot of painstakingly long downloading and updating to my pc, after returning it to factory condition. I removed backweb lite with spy bot, which i believe is why i'm getting this error? Any suggestions on how to correct the error, and ensure that it doesn't happen again?

open Hijackthis and do a scan. Please check off the following items:

O4 - Global Startup: Compaq Connections.lnk = C:\Program Files\Compaq Connections\1940576\Program\BackWeb-1940576.exe

click FIX CHECKED then close Hijackthis

Reboot and let me know how it is now :)

That fixed the backweb error, but now when i restart my computer i'm getting another error, i'm not sure if they're related or not. It's from my linksys wireless monitor. It says access violation at address 00407525 in module wusb54g.exe. read of address 00000368.

That certainly hsa nothing to do with the backweb error. I am going to transfer this to the XP forum and see if the can help you.

As you can see in your first HiJackthis log:

That file appears to be missing.

Look for a reset button on the modem, or unplug it for a minute then replace plug

Do you know the set up page for the modem, eg you type 192.154.0.1 into the address bar

Use add / remove to unistall the modem software then re-install the modem software from the CD which came with it
