No, I keep getting a message before desktop - but it goes off so soon I can't read it. Tried pause - no workie.

Twice now - no message. Goes to desktop and......nothing.

Look for one that has VIA on it or somthing to do with the motherboard (mainboard). We're looking for chipset drivers.

Sounds like you are in recovery console again??? That's not where we want to be. Type exit and let's start again. This time let me walk you through it a step at a time.

Not a problem...

I think the mistake is being made on the first Setup Screen. "To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER...Press ENTER

Then press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
