i told my download thing on ie to automatically open .zip files but now i need it to not. can i change it

Yes, you can change it.
Follow the steps below:
Open Control Panel -> Folder Options
In the newly opend Folder Options window, click File Types.
Scroll deown and select ZIP, now click on the Advanced button.
Enable(check) the "Confirm open after download" option.
Click Ok. Click Ok.
