an error keeps coming up when i'm on my computer i am currently running windows xp home

"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network"

what does it mean

it means that your computer and another computer on your network have the same ip address....did you assign the ip address staticly? or is it assigned via dhcp?

to tell u the truth i have no idea, my brothers computer is turned off though mines the only one one =/ how do i check what kind of connection it is?

right click your "my network connections" icon > properties >tcp/ip >properties...is there an ip there?(don't post it but does it end in 1)?

theres no ip address its set as obatain ip automatically and obtain DNS automatically
