:tazz: :)

Hello,

My antivirus had expired so I used the free 60 day Norton antivirus that was on the accona toolbar. I deleted the toolbar from the add/remove program and also from the registry, and now I can't access any secure websites (such as webmail, my online services, etc). (I have broadband). I tried system restore several times, but to no avail, now I can't use the system restore. I have tried :

spy sweeper,WinSockFix,CleanUp. I downloaded the AVG anti-virus and ran a deep system scan and that's when the trojan horse showed up.: BACKDOOR.VB.11.BC- I deleted it and have run a deep scan of both C and D drives again and no trojan horse was found. I have tried to update the files on the AVG, but I cannot get the update page to come up, it still says: error #1006 cannot connect to the internet and my IPS address keeps disappearing.

I tried the Ewido, but it gets to about 90% and then shuts down, before it shut down there 56 infected files called WinD AND SAHO. Can't get the updates: error #1006 connection denied.

Tried Spybot, but can't get it to run because can't get the updates, box pops up and says: socket error #1006 connection denied.

I am now running Housecall and so far no infected files.

I spoke with my broadband service to make sure it wasn't a problem with my internet, but was told that it showed I am connected to the internet, and configured correctly, but I still can't get to any secured sites. Do I need to completely wipe my hard drive? Can someone PLEASE tell me what to do.

P.S. I am not able to access my email. I am also concerned about my personal information since I cannot access any of my secured sites.

Thank you,

Jayfourj :)

Thank you for responding. I fix the checked items on hijack this and rebooted.
When i reboot there is a box that pops up from Microsoft that says: "COMMON CLIENT NETWORK PROXY SERVICE has encountered a problem and needs to close". Also my broadband has an assistant called QIC to check for connectivity that gets almost all the way through and then comes up and says connection could not be established.

Here is my new hijack this log:
(I have IE 6 and 128-bit

I think you have SpySweeper set to guard the startups.
This is preventing our fix from working. Can you disable it and repeat the advise I gave in my last post?

I also tried to remove the Norton Security, since it is no longer active, but I couldn't. Any Suggestions?

Thanks again, I hope you can help me.

The above log is clean. :tazz:

But I think you fixed the wrong Kodak entry.

This one should have been fixed:
O4 - Global Startup: Kodak software updater.lnk = C:\Program Files\Kodak\KODAK Software Updater\7288971\Program\Kodak Software Updater.exe
instead of the other one.

No big problem. You can fix that one now and the Kodak program can be started when needed (camera plugged into computer)

Which version of Norton Security where you using exactly?
They all have different removal instructions.

I think it was 2004. I just renewed my subscription every year since I have had the computer (I got my computer in 2002).

I still can't get to my web email (through my internet service). I keep getting something that says :
Commom Client Network Proxy has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. I had my internet service check to make sure I am connected and I am.

Why is it not recognizing that I am connected to the internet and am comfigured correctly?

Thanks

This is probably due to a part of Norton that is still active.

It wants to intercept and check your mail for viruses, but some parts are missing, so that causes the errors.

If you renewed your subscriptions you probably have an old version.
I hope so, since those are the easiest to remove.

Follow the instructions here:
http://service1.syma...001092114452606

I went to the Symantic page you said. I tried to download SymNrt.exe as the page said, but I got "page cannot be displayed". :tazz: I followed the links to Removing Norton System/Works 2004 in Windows XP.
It said to stop Norton System/Works Sevices, and it also, Removing Norton System/Works from the registry, there it said to back up the registry, should I back up the entire registry or just the single registry key or should I back up the entire registry?

If I can't get to the download page, then how can I download it?

Is there any hope for me? :)

Thanks again.

To back up the registry in XP is easy.
Just create a manual restore point:
http://www.microsoft...n/xpsysrst.mspx

I uploadad a copy of SymNRT.exe to this site:
http://metallica.gee....com/SymNRT.exe

Let me know when you have it, so I can remove it again.

:tazz: :)

Thank you, Thank you, thank you, you are so AWESOME!!!

I restored my computer back to last July and clicked on the link you sent. I was able to remove all the Norton Security that was installed. When I rebooted, the connectivity check came back all passed. Now I can access all the secured sites.

Thank you so much for all the help you gave me.

Glad we could help. :tazz:

I removed SymNRT.exe from the site, so anyone else looking for that file, will have to go here:
http://service1.syma...=&osv=&osv_lvl=

I would be honored if you'd have a look at my site about removing and preventing spyware.

Thank you,

I went to your site and downloaded the spyblaster and ie-spyad. I already had some of the others.

Again thank you for your help. I will recommend this site to my friends.
