problem with xbox dash

well my freind had softmodded his xbox and he then ftped it in wanting to get rid of the evox dash, he then deleted the c and e directory and rebooted. he is now encountered with a error 16 which means problem with dash. i have some backups on pc eg dash eeprom, but i cannot do anything to the xbox it wont boot games or anyhting. i heard you can hotswap but i dont understand it. any help is appreciated
