I think this problem is either a direct hijack or the result of a hijack that I fixed. When I start my IE comes up with no toobars other than the address, but if I try to save something to my favorites I get the standard microsoft error message and when IE restarts everything is where it belongs and works fine. I also noticed that it wipes out my history everytime I exit IE.

I did have an msblank problem but when I ran the tools that were suggested in other forums they appeared to repair everything and my system was running fine for about 1 day.

I have attached a HJT log and would appreciate any help that can be offered.

Thank you,
Wazoo

Thank you for responding. I have attached a current HJT log. I am still having the same problem. If I go to IE directly, I am missing the tool bars at the top of the page, but if I access IE through a link everything is where it needs to be. I have run the various tools and other scans and everything seems to be okay.

OK I need you to do a few things please,

First
Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt
Move HJT into this new folder please,
This is important so please do this prior to anything else please

Please post a fresh HJT log for review, I need to make sure it is sitting in the proper folder, Be sure and include the top section of the HJT log please

Next
Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Great,

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://forums.subrat...e=post&id=43811
http://swandog46.gee.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmzav.exe] C:\WINNT\system32\dmzav.exe
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {BE2F2769-8A63-4bc7-8A99-06C2C4AD7B9B} - C:\WINNT\system32\crtv2_32.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {BE2F2769-8A63-4bc7-8A99-06C2C4AD7B9B} - C:\WINNT\system32\crtv2_32.dll (file missing) (HKCU)
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{8E067B82-B45D-482A-A973-7A04CD338159}: NameServer = 85.255.113.124,85.255.112.15

Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Great news,
Could you please navigate to here please C:\fixwareout\report.txt
And see if you can find it please,

Just want to double check it,
Does look fine however and all your other issues appear to be gone ?

Nice job your log is clean !
How is it running ?
Please use the following suggestion to help prevent reinfection

First Off,
*Be sure and reset your hidden Files and Folders*

Download the following program, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster

Keep AD-Aware. and Spybot 1.3 handy, Check them for updates prior to running and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

For an added check run an online virus scan, you can use one of the 2 below,
TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
Click Start | Run | type in cleanmgr | OK

Let it scan your system for files to remove.

Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.

Press OK to remove them.

Thank you for the help. I am sorry that I did not get back to you last night. I had an appointment that I had to go to. I did search for the fixwareout report. I did find one but I am not sure it was what you are looking for. It is at the bottom of the post.

The system appears to be running well. I will continue to run the scans and try to keep the machine clean.

Thanks again!!!! Unless I hear otherwise I will consider this closed.

Wazoo

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FILES FOUND BY THIS METHOD ARE NOT BAD FILES, There WILL be LEGIT FILES LISTED. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHAT IT IS LEAVE THEM ALONE.
