Yelo

Found a solution to your problem :-D

The problem is in the registry part controlling the media player active x component

make a reg file containing this

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0]
@="Windows Media Player"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\0]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\0\win32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\msdxm.ocx"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\FLAGS]
@="0"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\HELPDIR]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\"
and import it into your registry if you cannot do that. Then change the permissions for
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}
best regards Jake

1. make a new text file and call it foo.reg
2. right-click on it and choose edit.
3. paste the following lines into the file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0]
@="Windows Media Player"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\0]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\0\win32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\msdxm.ocx"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\FLAGS]
@="0"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{22D6F304-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95}\1.0\HELPDIR]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\"
4. save the file
5. right-click on the file and choose import
6. you are done

best regards Jake

I used notepad and pasted the lines into it, then I saved it and when I went to right click the file, no, "import" was visible, only "merge"

it hasn't worked yet.
thanks for the quick reply, still needing help.

Choose 'merge'. I didnt know the rigth label because my XP is in Danish

If this fails you will have to change the permissions for to key in question
